Our wedding colors were a summer berry mix: blush, burgundy, and sage green. The cabin where we got married is painted baby pink and forrest green so our colors worked perfectly.
When thinking up our wedding we did not want to get too lost into the details of an event that would last 4 hours, so we wanted to keep things simple. Clarisse is a thrifting queen and used her skills to find wedding decor for the big day. We mostly splurged on photography, florals and the wedding cake.
Our day was perfect in that we got married surrounded by close friends and family. We were also able to walk around and talk to our guests freely with out feeling awkward or rushed. Getting married at a cabin gave it a rustic cozy feel that our guests enjoyed very much.
Our flowers were done by LB Floral in Knoxville, TN. We hired Lesley for the arch, banquets, boutonnieres and Clarisse's floral crown. The flowers were beautiful and popped against the green of the trees around us.
Besides having family present from across the states with us, one of our favorite details of the wedding was the scenery. As a couple we love to hike and enjoy nature. Having our ceremony surrounded by trees and a cool stream in the Smokey Mountains was a real treat.
For food, we served snacks by providing a deli and fruit tray. We were a little sneaky in having our wedding at 4pm between lunch and dinner time so we didn't pay for full meals. Everyone was pleased and there was still food left over.
The cake was made by Oven Creations and Clarisse designed it herself! Clarisse made a painting of her dream cake and the cake designer made it come to life with sugar flowers and gold glittery details. The cake was strawberry with fondant.
We set up a photo booth with a lace backdrop and a polaroid camera with film so guests could take a picture and keep it if they chose.
Southern Sirens did a great job on my hair and makeup! I felt so beautiful on my wedding day.
JoPhotos, my photography team were the sweetest couple and helped us all feel relaxed and comfortable. The photos from my wedding turned out wonderfully! They even sent me a thank you letter with a locket inside with a couple photos.
If You Knew Then What You Know Now...
Knowing what I know now, I would have paid for makeup and hair for my mom. She ran around all day to help get the cake and set things up that she forgot to take care of herself which affects how she feels about the wedding pictures (even though we all think she looked beautiful).
For those who are planning a wedding, try not to stress! I'm glad we had a smaller wedding so we could enjoy the day with out the pressure of having to please so many guests. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help. Chances are you have creative friends or people who have experience with planning. Lastly, take the day before the wedding off. Take a break and go for walk, spend the day with friends, and relax. It will help you enjoy your wedding day even more!
The Day in Three Words
Lovely. Fun. Relaxed.
We spent three days at the Biltmore in Asheville, NC.
